Ronald Searle
Inefficient Cat Captured by an Astute Goldfish, 1967, by Ronald Searle
Has just heard that the fantastic Illustrator Ronald Searle has passed ago at the age 91. I always remember his drawing of the St Trinian girls from the books. His style of work and imagery was always beautiful and creative adding humour to his work. Really is a great lost but he work will always be remember.
I should have mentioned that I will be briefly flooding your dash with his work.
In memory of Ronald Searle (3 March 1920 – 30 December 2011)
Bye Bye, Ronald. I’m going to miss you.
It’s partially your fault I went to art school … but that’s okay. I’m recovering nicely and still think your books are completely wicked.

(For the living, nice things are said about him here, here, here and here)
Ditto for all of the above. His illustrations brought me so much joy as a child and still do today. I’d actively hunt down any books illustrated by him and repeatedly devour every detail.
